A Child does not have to be a
cancer patient to be affected by cancer

At the
Olive Tree we recognise that cancer affects all family members in
different ways. We also recognise that discussing severe illness with
children can be extremely difficult.
The
Children’s Group provides a means of supporting families and children in
coping with cancer at all stages of treatment and recovery.
The
group is a structured yet flexible programme of monthly support sessions
for different age groups of children. This provides a safe environment
to understand and cope with the effects of cancer on close family
members.
The
group follows the school year with breaks at Christmas and summer. It is
facilitated by volunteers and trained counsellors with personal
experience of cancer and working with children.
The
sessions start in October and if you would like to know more, please get
in touch with the Olive Tree. |
