Monthly Spotlight

We know that we provide lots of support to our members. We also know that there are many other organisations who also provide help and support to those affected by Cancer. Our spotlight this month is shining on Heathers.

Heathers is a small and extremely friendly cancer support group serving people in Horsham and the surrounding area. We meet on the first and third Monday every month, other than Bank Holidays and whilst the current social distancing restrictions are in place, between 2 pm and 4pm in the Unitarian Church Hall, Worthing Road, Horsham. Meetings are run on a completely informal drop-in basis and no appointment is necessary.

A wide range of support is available depending on need and the resources available. This includes an information service, emotional support, telephone support, occasional speakers and outings. Where Heathers is not able to provide specialist support itself it acts to sign post to other local care providers who may be able to help. But the aspect of the group that most members seem to find helpful is the opportunity to discuss and share experiences with others who are in a similar situation.

Heathers is a Macmillan affiliated group and most of our trustees have personal experience of cancer in one respect or another and have received training from Macmillan.

We would like to welcome all members of The Olive Tree who live in the Horsham area to call in to meet us, where you will be sure of a warm welcome, a listening ear and a safe place in which to discuss issues and concerns.

For more information or just for a friendly chat why not call either Sue on 01403 823858 or Yvonne on 01293 512378. You can also find useful information on our website www.heatherscancersupport.org.uk
