Frequently asked questions

Do I have to pay for therapies?

No, but voluntary donations are always welcome.

How much should I donate?

£5.00 covers the cost of one session.

How many therapy sessions can I have?

As many as you need (dependent on availability), but not more than 1 session per week and you can only book two appointments in advance at any point in time.

Are your therapists qualified?

Yes, and they are all members of a professional body and fully insured.

Can my family come to the Olive Tree?

Yes anyone affected by cancer is welcome.

How long can I come along to the Olive Tree?

As long as you need to.

Do I have to live in either the Crawley or the Horsham areas?

No. As long as you are happy to travel to us we are happy to have you here. There may be support nearer to your home and we can advise you of this.

Can you arrange travel to the centre?

Unfortunately not at the present time.

Can you help arrange travel for my treatment?

Unfortunately not, however we can help advise about seeking help with this.

Do you give grants or help with financial problems?

We do not have a grant programme so we do not help with providing money. We do have a benefits advisor and we can arrange for you to speak with him regarding financial advice. We also have written information.

Can you advise me about treatment choices?

We do not give medical advice. We strongly recommend that you talk through your options with your oncologist or clinical nurse specialist. If you are not sure who this is we can help put you in touch with the right person.

Are you connected to Macmillan?

Whilst we are affiliated to Macmillan (and were awarded their Quality Environment Award in May 2023), we are nevertheless an independent charity.
