Volunteer FundraisingTeam

The Olive Tree Cancer Centre is a small, independent charity which has been providing a wide range of free support services to local people affected by cancer in Crawley and the surrounding area for over 25 years.  We will soon be expanding into Horsham and, as a result, need to increase our fundraising efforts to ensure that we can continue to provide our much needed and greatly appreciated services.  We need you!!

We already have fabulous volunteers who help us with fundraising, but we are very keen to recruit more members to our friendly, enthusiastic and supportive team. Volunteer fundraisers can undertake a variety of roles based on their skills, experience, interests and the amount of time that they are able to commit to fundraising.

Volunteering for the Olive Tree is rewarding, interesting and fun!  The Olive Tree is run almost entirely by volunteers and you would become part of a very supportive team.  You will have the opportunity to use your existing experience, develop additional skills and make new friends.  We would love to hear from you and to discuss the most suitable role for you within our team.

Some examples of fundraising include:

- Identification of possible grants and the subsequent completion and submission of the relevant forms

- Researching potential corporate donors and the development and maintenance of mutually beneficial relationships

- Attendance at local community events to raise awareness of the Olive Tree, recent examples of which include the Rotary Club’s Funday Sunday in Horsham Park, Milton Mount Choir carol singing in the County Mall and a collection at a Crawley Town football match

- Assistance with planning and attending fundraising events organised by the Olive Tree such as the upcoming Spanish Evening at Hispalis restaurant in Crawley.

This is only a very brief summary and further details of some of the opportunities follow below. You can also visit the volunteering and fundraising pages of our website or our page on Do-it.org, the National Volunteering Service https://bit.ly/2QsYuof  and Crawley Community & Voluntary Service (CVS) https://www.crawleycvs.org/.

Interested?  If so, please contact Alyson Smith the Olive Tree Fundraising Manager to find out more: Alyson@olivetreecancersupport.org.uk or on her mobile number 07434 819637

Roles available

Volunteer Grants Coordinator/Writer

If you are a good researcher with an analytical mind and are able to identify and explore potential sources of grants such as trusts and other major donors, then we would love to hear from you.  Good quality research will allow the Olive Tree to target limited resources efficiently and effectively. If you are confident that you would be able to complete and submit grant bids, that would be an enormous benefit.

Volunteer Campaigns and Donor Assistant

Do you have good knowledge and/or contacts with local businesses in the Crawley Borough/Horsham District/Surrey area?  The Olive Tree needs to identify potential funding partnerships with local companies whose business drivers and philanthropy objectives align with those of the The Olive Tree.  Some companies may not be in a position to donate funds, but wider in-kind support from local businesses would also be of great interest.  Successful corporate fundraising requires relationship development and management in order to ensure that relationships are mutually beneficial.

Volunteer Fundraising Liaison Assistant

If you have enthusiasm and a willingness to help, strong organisational and communication skills, a friendly attitude and are comfortable using your initiative – we need you!  You would be a central point of contact for the Fundraising Manager and help us to keep up-to-date with our activities. Other ad hoc duties will include helping with social media promotion and providing office support.
