What is Cranio-Sacral Therapy?

Cranio-Sacral Therapy is an exceptionally gentle, yet extremely powerfulform of treatment.

It is a profound healing process which can release the deeply held patternsof disease - both physical and psychological - which accumulate throughoutlife, as a result of injury and illness and which may result in ill-health anddysfunction.

It is a therapy whose principle purpose is to establish a strong underlyingvitality and the free flow of this vitality throughout the body.  Thisenables the healing forces within to overcome disease and distress and torelease tensions and restrictions, so that symptoms, conditions and theirunderlying causes can be resolved.

How can Cranio-Sacral Therapy help?

Cranio-Sacral Therapy treats people rather than conditions.  It isprimarily concerned with establishing a balanced underlying state which enablesthe body's own healing mechanisms to operate at optimum levels, thereforerestoring health.

The natural world is guided by rhythms which are all around us.  Our bodies also have natural rhythms, not just that of breathing in and out, but a more subtle rhythmic motion.  Everything that happens to us in life, every trauma, illness, injury affects this rhythm, causing restrictions and disturbances.  An experienced practitioner can "tune in" to this rhythmand engage with these natural movements.  This interaction enables the patient's systems to respond by addressing and releasing any resistance ordisturbance.  A more settled, calm balanced state is achieved, which allows the body to function more smoothly and fluently.

Cranio-Sacral Therapy can:

Promote feelings of deep relaxation
Bring calmness and peace of mind
Contribute to a sense of well-being
Improve energy levels

What can I expect in a treatment?

The treatment is carried out with the patient lying down, fully clothed and in a quiet, peaceful environment.  The treatment is totally non-invasive and involves the light touch of the practitioner's hands on any part of the body from the head to the feet.
